NME USA Awards 2008: MCR, The Killers, Kate Nash Get Some Win In


The NME USA Awards were broadcast live Wednesday, and I'm going to do you a favor and just list the winners, courtesy themusicslut:

Best Classic LP: Lemonheads - It's A Shame About Ray
Best Indie Track: The Killers - "Tranquilize"
Best Breakthrough Track: MGMT - "Time To Pretend"
Best Indie Live Band: My Chemical Romance

Wanna know who the competition was? A full list of nominees is here. Interesting that Kate Nash trumped Lily Allen, considering Lily was a factor in her rise to fame.

One thing I don't really get? The usage of the word "indie." But now I have that Kelly Clarkson song stuck in my head, oy.

My Chemical Romance is its own genre of usic. Its pure brilliancy.

& MCR
& I'm offended that they put them under the same Genre as Indie.

Yay!
Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, and Arctic Monkeys are great bands.
Kate Nash is awesome too.
And MCR...indie? They aren't even actually indie...they are on a major label for gods sake!
