Live in the House that Hil Built.

Just kidding, Hilary Duff did NOT build a house. She is in Jane mag's "30 Under 30" feature, though:

Says the Duffster: "If I had to pick a backup plan to performing, I'd see myself designing perfume or maybe being an architect. But the good thing about being my age and being famous is that I can be creative and inspire people like others inspire me."

What exactly does she mean by "Perfume Designer"? "Make it smell like freesia and vanilla cupcakes and put it in a pink bottle with gold sparkles"? Doesn't designing perfume as a non-celeb require some chemistry background? Or did I totally ADD-out during that segment on the Style channel? Anyway, I got nuthin' but love for the Duff and I'm glad she made the list.

Hot or Not: Colored Jeans

Most of the time I really could care less about fashion trends because I don't live on a budget that facilitates overhauling my wardrobe every season. That and I think you should wear things that define YOU, not the Forever 21 version of what Anna Wintour gives the OK to.

This is one I'm on the fence about:

I wear jeans 5 out of 7 days a week so this... colored thing could certainly give me more options. I just... don't know. American Apparel is coming out with a colored line of Slim Slacks soon (already available some places) so I MIGHT just go try some of those on... but I don't know if I'd go outside my comfortable blue/black.

Thoughts?

Young Love, Shirt-Free

Would I like you to watch Young Love's "Find a New Way" video? Yes, absolutely. Because it's a good song. But that's not really the issue I'd like to address. Go watch it first, then we can talk. Go ahead.

Alright. Now. Question: Does anyone feel like maybe Dan Keyes should put a shirt on? I'm not saying he's a bad looking dude. I just, in general, think shirts are a good idea. Here's another example:

I have no shortage of Beckett-love, but I still think he looks better, you know, clothed. One more:

See? Shirts win again. There is, is far as I'm concerned, only ONE exception to this "dudekeepyourshirton" rule. Can you guess who it is?

Oh, and how did YOU like the video?

Jason Wahler is so hard core.

Us Magazine has some disconcerting shots of The Hills/Laguna Beach has-been Jason Wahler... playing Russian Roulette:

The pictures, which were taken last summer, show the 20-year-old and his friend, rapper Jay 211, holding a pistol to their heads and then pulling the trigger. "We were just wasted one night and we ended up back at Jay's house in North Hollywood,” a source who witnessed the incident tells Us Magazine. “Everyone was just playing around and they decided to play Russian Roulette. There was one bullet in the gun and Jason and Jay both pointed the gun at their heads and pulled the trigger." Luckily, no one got hurt. The source adds: “Jason's out of control. He's out of his f--king mind.”

This is playing out like a bad daytime soap, isn't it? All he needs is a crazy emaciated underage girlfriend who wears throws patio furniture into.... hang on-- wrong show. That was The (fake) O.C. not Laguna Beach: The REAL Orange County. Ohh, Jason, you're so Ryan Atwood. Cage fighting is next, I presume?

-5 points for anyone who replies with the obvious. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Kthx.

Berlin's Fav Baby Bear Receives Death Threat

Little Knut could nearly trump Britney for headlines these days. Reuters is reporting that the cub (or rather, the zoo) received a hand-written note that said, "Knut is dead! Thursday midday."

They upped the security for the little guy, but Thursday midday came and went safely.

Who the eff threatens a Polar Bear? I mean, really-- I SORT OF understood the reasoning behind the Animal Rights Activist's wanting him dead (although I vehemently disagreed) but beyond that, what's the motive?

Open for Fall Out Boy, Get a Wentz-over.

Unsigned acts take note: Fall Out Boy is giving away the opening spot on some dates of the Honda Civic Tour. Reports NME:  On Mylocalbands.com, groups are asked to submit their band name and page and other details. In a few days, everyone will be able to come here, check out all the bands' MyspaceMyspace pages, and vote on their favourite band.

Whaddya think of weilding some control over the night's opener? (And does this mean Paul Wall is out? 'Cause that would make me happy)

In other FOB-related news, MTV wants Wentz-lovers for a new show. It's true: Do you wish you or your friend had Pete Wentz’ style, but can only dream of dressing like the rock star he is? If you or one of your friends want to hit an event “Pete Wentz style,” MTV wants to give you a wardrobe makeover!

Los Angeles fans hit up this link for more info.

So... a Wentz wardrobe makeover... would mean a hoodie, skintight jeans, eyeliner, a sidekick and an Ashlee Simpson look-alike to hold your hand?

Spencer & Heidi Speak:

MTV Reality World has an Exclusive interview with Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt of The Hills. Here's an excerpt:

MTV Reality World: I understand you have some blogs coming out. What can we look forward to seeing there?

Spencer: Well, I want to start to have our side of the story come out. I want to get a blog so people can know what’s going on with Spencer on the daily. Lauren narrates The Hills. Spencer is going to narrate his blog. Imagine if Spencer narrated The Hills… It’s how you skew it. If I’m the narrator, wait to see how much people love Spencer.

Wait. Does Spencer know blogging involves writing?

MTV Reality World:
How has the show changed your lives?
Heidi: People recognize us when we go out.
Spencer: They notice us for being in love… I’ve never been this in love in my whole life. Heidi is the sexiest girl I’ve ever met. I wouldn’t leave Heidi for those Playboy bunnies. I wouldn’t leave Heidi for the Playboy mansion!

Chhhhyeahhh sure dude. Call his "homeboy phone" and see if he gives you the same answer then.

MTV Reality World: What’s in the future for you guys?
Heidi:
I’m never letting this one go!
Spencer:
The bottom line about me wanting to move in with her is that I haven’t left this girl’s side since I met her. I’m obsessed with her. Everyone says I can’t get into the clubs anymore, but the truth is I don’t go to clubs anymore because I like to cuddle up in bed with my girlfriend with some DVDs.
Heidi:
I wouldn’t want to go to clubs anymore. I have so much more fun watching DVDs with Spencer and cuddling.

Right, Pratt. I think I learned about that cognitive coping technique in Psych 101. It's called counter-attitudinal advocacy-- you know the story about the monkey who kept trying unsuccessfully to get the bananas off this really tall tree, so in his head he decides that the bananas are rotten and he wouldn't want them anyway? That's totally you. You know you long for "da club." Don't deny it.

Tortured Artist is soooo '06.

The starving-suffering-unstable artist stereotype is one that has interested me for some time now. Mostly because I not-so-secretly believe I was more creative in times of misery and confusion. I'm reading a book to sort of train me out of that thinking (a recommendation from Elisa), but the topic in general still piques my interest.

Anyway, I came across this bit on NME today-- Kele from Bloc Party calling out Pete Doherty:

When asked if an artist needed to suffer to create, Okereke told The Guardian: "That is something that has been misunderstood in recent times, and has led to really clichéd behaviour. Someone like Pete Doherty - his drug-taking and refusal to adhere to a traditional lifestyle - makes people thing that his art is somehow more relevant because he's a fuck-up. It's easier to be a misfit or a dropout than it is to be a genius and actually create something."

I totally get what he's saying. I mean, there's never been a time in my life when I thought Pete Doherty was a genius, but I am guilty of believing the must-suffer-to-create myth. And to an extent, I think history perpetuates that idea.

Agree/disagree? Can you name more totally sane artists, or artists with issues?

Take a Paparazzi Picture

I blog I adore, ICiNG, recently posted an article on how to take a good "paparazzi photo." Or rather, how not to have a mini-panic attack everytime someone points a camera at you when you're out and about. Yeah, okay, not very many of us skip along red carpets, but even group photos at the beach can be a bit stressful if you weren't born photogenic. Here are some of Gala Darling's suggestions:

Work out your best angle. Most photographers will take photos at eye-level, meaning you’re going to get a straight-on kind of shot. (If they try to take it from below, either tell them to take it higher up or not to bother — no one looks good from that angle.) Don’t just look straight at the camera. You’ll end up with a mugshot, & even Frank Sinatra couldn’t make that look good. This may mean a bit of bedroom practicing. How much do you need to twist your neck to make the most of those lovely cheekbones?

Put down anything you’re holding. Take off bags, put down cellphones/drinks/chihuahuas, & if a coat is slung over your arm, give it to someone else to hold for the time being. The reason for this is that all these accoutrements are a distraction from what should be a glorious photograph of YOU! Not Skyy vodka or Nokia or Tinkerbell. The other thing to keep in mind is that when you looked in the mirror before leaving the house, you didn’t have any of this junk. It was just you in a daringly stylish outfit.

Have a schtick. Seriously. My schtick used to be a shocked face a few years ago. When faced with a photographer on Thursday night, I went with my old schtick. Nice in theory, except my face has changed since then & now it makes me look like Skeletor, as you can see in the photograph above. Hot! Except not really. For this reason, I suggest coming up with something which works & then regularly CHECK that it still looks okay, before randomly terrifying photographers & guests alike.

Please read the rest of the tips at iCiNG and bookmark her blog, it's fabulous!

Don'cha wish you were friends with Hellogoodbye?

Friday night I went to see Hellogoodbye at The Wiltern. And only Hellogoodbye, because I lag.

But oh, the lengths I would travel to hear these Huntington Beach boys make music. You can't NOT have fun at an HGB show, and this time was no exception. Right before they came on I positioned myself in the "photo pit" where the guy with the big, professional camera scoffed at my little digi-cam. Whateverz.

Red solo cups and empty water bottles were strewn across the cheap IKEA couch (yeah, I know because all my friends have that one). It totally looked like remnants of a good house party-- but the party had just begun. No, literally. The band invited like 20 of their friends to "party" on stage while they played. How awesome is that? Video: "Where my party girls at?"

What'd they play? All Time Lows, Stuck To You, Oh It Is Love, Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn, CallnReturn (I think, unless I made that one up in my head), Stuck To You, Dear Jamie (Oh man, did everyone go crazy) and of course Here In Your Arms. Yeah, there were totally more songs than that but I've seen them so many times that if there's a song I wanted them to play and they don't play it, my brain seems to sub-in memories from past shows to keep me happy.

Oh, and they ended it by covering Beastie Boys "Fight For Your Right To Party." Epic.

The merch line was swamped so I didn't get my hands on any new HGB goods (and there is always something to buy, their merch is so darn cute) because we had to high tail it out to make it to pinkberry before it closed.

You can check out more of my pics here and in a bit on

Keira Knightley dating Orlando Bloom doppleganger.

I just came across this post on ONTD:

This is Keira's boyfriend, Rupert Friend.

Is she kidding? Why settle for a less hot version of Orlando Bloom when she can have the real thing?

America's Next Top Convict:

Hey, look who got arrested again:

Anyone surprised? Anyone? Apparently this time he served up a ton of offensive comments ("a nig**r, a fag**t, and a poor f**k") before delivering his final blow, "Come down to L.A. county and get your @ss kicked!"

ONTD commenter shlee_lee takes the comment-cake today: "Luke Ward called and he wants his catchprase back."

God, he is full of BS lines. What was the other one? "I don't have my I.D. but you can check TMZ.com"? I honestly can't decide who's worse-- him, or Spencer "See you in the club!" Pratt.

ps. Did you know Stephen Colletti is dating Hayden Panettiere?

iPods will save your life. It's true.

The next time your ma yells at you for never taking your headphones off, a good reply would be: OHMYGAH MAWM, I'm wearing my iPod for my own PROTECTION.

And then read her this story from Gizmodo.

For those of you lazy types, let me break it down for you: Kevin Garrad was on patrol in Iraq when he came face to face with an enemy. "Both opened fire, and the bullet heading toward Kevin hit his chest right where his iPod was, which was enough to slow down the bullet to not pierce entirely through the body armor."

So there you have it. His iPod literally saved is life. How many people can say that?

Honda Civic Tour Delayed

Hey! Heads up if you haven't seen this announcement yet:

Due to personal issues beyond the band's control, the first few weeks of The Honda Civic Tour have been delayed. These shows will be rescheduled to the end of the tour.

"Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, we are planning on this being the biggest and best Fall Out Boy show that we could possibly have. Unfortunately, because of some personal issues we had to delay the tour a few weeks. We want to put on the best possible show we can and know that this extra couple of weeks will give us the time to put ourselves in the right place to put on the best show we can. The shows from the earlier part of the tour will be rescheduled to the end but all tickets will be honored for all moved shows. Again we apologize. Our fans really mean the world to us and I promise the wait will be well worth it." - Pete Wentz

The only show that could not be rescheduled due to routing conflicts is the Sacramento show. Ticket holders for the Sacramento show can refund their tickets and can also re-buy tickets for the Concord date at point of purchase. Tickets may also be exchanged at Concord box office night of show for comparable price level, subject to availability. Refunds for all rescheduled shows will be given at point of purchase.

Amy Lee will Sacrifice You.

I know some of you have this up already, but for those of you who don't, here's the new video from Evanescence. It's for the song "Sweet Sacrifice"

Amy Lee has that rare quality of being able to look incredibly beautiful while also appearing as if she might dig your heart out with a spoon. And eat it.

Panic! get Romantic.

Punk News updates us on Panic! at the Disco's writing progress by revealing that the boys have decided to create a concept album.

"We all got together and created this — I guess you could call it a concept — that we all wrote and we were all involved with and pretty interested in. Most people who listen to our music can't relate to what it's like to tour and play shows and live on the road. That's the last thing we want to write about, because we do it all the time anyway. It's kind of a love story. It's a timeless age of romantic, poetic fantasies."

Oooh, interesting. I don't know if I'm totally into concept albums, but I do like them tackling love versus "life on the road."

Lauren Conrad loses points.

Seriously? Lauren? Hello, anyone home in that head of yours?

The sex tape thing is so old. I mean, I'm not even buying the "everyone makes mistakes" line anymore, because so many celebs and reality stars have already made that boo-boo for you.

Don't tape sh*t you wouldn't want anyone to see.
End of story.
