Britney having a good laugh over Paris (inmate) Hilton
From OK! Magazine via Celebitchy:
![]() Don’t expect Britney Spears to sign a “Free Paris” petition anytime soon, as the pop star is now gloating over former pal Paris Hilton’s jail sentence. And one insider tells OK! that Brit couldn’t be happier she ended her friendship with the Simple Life star. “Britney is relieved to have distanced herself from her ex-party buddy,” the source says. “Rest assured - you won’t see Britney speaking to Paris through the glass petition in the jail on visiting day…” [Britney] “blames Paris for a lot of her image problems that she had before rehab,” the insider confides. “Britney is happy to be living clean and sober, far away from Paris’ mess. She’s also glad that the attention of making mistakes is now on somebody else.” 1. What's that thing they say about people in glass houses throwing stones? Okay then. 2. Paris didn't make her marry K-Fed. Nor did Paris force her to adorn herself in garish maternity attire such as this: ![]() ![]() 3. Sober? 4. Weren't they only friends for like, 3 weeks? Man, Hollywood is rough.

A Groupie Is...?
There so many good things in the July issue of Alt Press, I didn't know what to share. But then I got to page 128, "22 Music-Centric Books" and saw that Pamela DesBarres groupie memoir topped the list:
![]() Then I went and flipped back through my Nylon mag and indeed, the groupie godmother is putting out another book: ![]() I bring these books, or rather, this topic up because I want to know what your idea of a groupie is. I'm not gonna get on my soapbox for this one, because I already spent a quarter of my college life doing at 25 page paper on the derogatory nature of the word groupie... all because of this shirt, which was being sold in Hot Topic at the time: ![]() A Groupie is...Dictionary.com says the definition is simply: 1. a young person, esp. a teenage girl, who is an ardent admirer of rock musicians and may follow them on tour OR an ardent fan of a celebrity or of a particular activity: a tennis groupie. But the G-word has implied meanings as well. What do you think it means?

May 30, 2007Cupcakes Are In.
As if they were ever out!
![]() Anyway, I was exploring the internets today when I came across like three different items about cupcakes. Sign from above? I think so. So here it is-- a comprehensive cupcake post. Before anyone gets all "I BROUGHT CUPCAKES BACK!" I'll admit it was J-Star's cupcake-only diet and Hanna Beth's vegan cupcake-baking that probably put it in my brain. That and the cupcake menu at Lucky Devils. The goods: ![]() Cupcake wall art from Serious Gnome. ![]() Cupcake holder from cupacake.com ![]() Sprinkles Cupcake Mix (red vellllllvet!!!) ![]() Cupcake necklace from Fred Flare. Nicole Richie, PoetMs. Richie sent out this silly invite for her Memorial Day shindig: ![]() (Intouchweekly) I guess everyone didn't get that it was intended to be humorous, so she called into KIIS fm to explain this morning. A blogger on ONTD says it went down like this:
-It was only meant to be shown to her friends and that it needed to rhyme. She also says she writes similar poems/invitations for "every holiday." -She confirmed that Mischa Barton got sick at her party from alcohol & antibiotics, but was gone for all the action since she was at Ralph's getting Sunny D. -She thinks Paris' case was handled unfairly and thinks she was exploited. -She and Joel are still together. -Lindsay was at the BBQ, but she missed her because she was at Ralphs for 40 minutes and Lindsay only stopped by for 5 minutes. Alright, now go read a book so you can reclaim the 3 minutes it took you to read this.

Adam Lazzara on Marriage:
Onlythis pulled an Adam Lazzara quote from Kerrang:
![]() "I'm getting married next March. It's going to be amazing, it blows my mind. Marriage is for the rest of your life and that feels great. I can't be as open with anyone else as I can with my fiancee, she's my best friend. I'm ready to put my life in the hands of someone else. It feels to right not to do this..." For anyone not in the know, Adam is engaged to Chauntelle DuPree, who is the guitarist in Eisley (I have scans to post later, they're in Nylon mag this month!) Her sister Sherri DuPree is married to Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory. Maybe I can marry one of the brothers and get in on that pop-punk family action, huh? Kidding, totally kidding. Related Groups:

Absolutepunk interviews Paramore.
And makes me love them more than I already do. Here is an excerpt:
![]() Do you ever feel like you have to watch your actions and what you say? Hayley: Totally. There is a fine line between not caring what people think about you and being who you are. And also, when you are in a position where a lot of people are looking up to you and wondering what your take on something is, I feel you have to watch yourself. Someone can get the wrong impression from anything. We want people to get great things from our music. We say we're fine after the show, and the second we head back we may be butting heads about something. We don’t really want people to see that type of stuff because that’s not really what it’s about. It’s something we have to get through in order to get better. But, yeah, we totally have to watch what we do. I don’t want to talk about whether or no you have a boyfriend or whatever, because that’s not what music is about. But I am curious what you think of people always harping on just you [Hayley] in the band? Are you sick of it? Do you just laugh it off? Josh: We knew that would happen. We knew that it would just get worse the more fans we gain. People are going to be more focused on Hayley. It happens with any lead man, but it’s a little different because she’s a girl. There are times when it just happens so much that we are like “Oh man, this is getting annoying,” just to be honest. Deep down we know that we are a band and that’s how we see ourselves and as long as people know that’s how we feel and who we are. Hayley: We don’t look at ourselves as everybody else does, as this girl-fronted band that’s limited by so many things just because it’s a girl. I think we have more opportunities and we are available to do more things. It’s retarded. Just because I have boobs AP.net has a couple more threads about Paramore. It’s weird. Whatever, I don’t care. We make music for people to enjoy music, not so people can talk about my sexuality. You, of course, will read the rest right here. Just as a personal aside, I don't think they're better because they're a girl-fronted band, nor do I think that limits them-- I just think she's a good role model and has the potential to inspire lots of little girls to get their rock on. Know what I mean? Related Groups:

Anakin Skywalker: Diagnosed
I'm not exactly a Star Wars fantatic, but I love psychology-- so I thought this Wired article was a riot. It's totally obvious that Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vadar has issues, but now a team of researchers have actually spent time intellectualizing this:
![]() "He's suffering. And he's suffering from a disorder," said Dr. Eric Bui, a psychiatrist in Toulouse, France, who co-wrote a study that diagnosed one of the most villainous and heroic characters in the Star Wars canon as having borderline personality disorder. He has difficulty controlling anger, stress-related breaks with reality (after women in his life die or leave), impulsivity (dangerous pod racing), obsession with abandonment (those women again) and a "pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of ideation and devaluation" (hello, Obi-Wan). In another sign that he's borderline, the authors argue that Skywalker suffers from an "identity disturbance." After all, he did become Darth Vader after being "very unsure of who he was and what he wanted." Before you climb up on that soapbox to declare that there are real sick people that need help out there, know that there is a purpose:The diagnosis helps explain why teenagers -- no strangers to borderline personalities -- find Skywalker so appealing, said study co-author Rachel Rodgers, a psychologist in Toulouse. They may like him, she said, "because he's very similar to them." Read the rest on Wired. ![]() ps. Heroes Finale! Discuss.WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
![]() Yes, we started talking about it yesterday, but of COURSE I'm giving Heroes it's own post. Ah, so it was the noble Petrelli bros that saved the world. I'm really glad Nathan stepped up, because I've been yelling BAD MAN, BAD BAD MAN (Hiro-style) at the TV for a few episodes now. Sarah said she didn't think there was enough action in the ending scene, and I have to agree with her there. I wanted Micah and Molly to get in there and throw some blows. Speaking of Micah & Molly, I hope they become little hero-buddies. ANYWAY. Now there's so many questions: Can Peter regenerate if he exploded into itty bitty pieces? Did Sylar die, or get away? (Did anyone think maybe he was the bug crawling ground? Ha). Is Matt Parkman going to make it? (How effed up was the part where Sylar made all the bullets boomerang back? Jerk.) Why'd they wait so long to tell us what Mr. Bennet's first name is? (Noah) What is the significance of that symbol? (When Hiro landed back in 17th century Japan, it was on the flag). Is Linderman can heal, is he going to heal himself? And the most ominous of all was Molly's hint that there is someone way worse than Sylar out there! Let's Talk Season Finales:
I know a bunch of you are Grey's Anatomy Fans, so this is something we must discuss-- what did you think of the Season Finale? I personally thought it was incredibly sad, but I judge a finale by how much it makes me ache for the new season. I'm really invested in all the Grey's characters, so it ending like it was really knife-to-heart.
![]() What will George do-- repeat his internship, or leave? If he leaves the show, what will happen to Izzie? Are Meredith and McDreamy realllllly over? Why didn't Alex go for Ava when he had the chance? Why didn't Miranda get Cheif Resident? Is Lexie Grey Meredith's sister? Did anyone really want Cristina to get married? I had SUCH mixed feelings when she said "He left.... I'm free." You have to read Shonda Rhimes' (Grey's creator) explanation of the finale: Tralala has it. Secondly, I know not very many of you watch Desperate Housewives, but for those of you who did... how freakin' sad was the last few minutes? Actually, here, watch it: ![]() Totally effed up that Victor Lang married Gaby to get the "Latino Vote" in the Governer's Race. Bizarre that Bree is pretending to be pregnant so that when her daughter Danielle gives birth she's going to pretend it's hers. I feel like next season is going to be really sad if Edie did leave and Lynette is battling cancer. TONIGHT is the Heroes season finale! I'm so excited I wish it was 9pm RIGHT NOW. I was listening to the radio this morning and the actor who plays Nathan Petrelli was talking about the Spin-off (Origins) that will air in Heroes downtime. It will introduce 6 characters then viewers get to vote which one joins Season 2 of Heroes. He also said he has no idea when Heroes will return because of the writers strike. Gah! May 18, 2007Heroes + Lost: BFF
Well, not really, but their creators are close and give eachother a lot of feedback-- that's probably why I'm SO addicted to BOTH shows! Ha. Wizardworld interviewed both of them. Here are some snippets:
![]() KRING: There is no way a show like "Heroes" could've come along if "Lost" had not come along before it, not only for what it did in teaching the audience how to absorb a giant show like this, but especially what it did in teaching the networks how to do a show like this. LINDELOF: That's very kind of you to say. And also, I feel like another part of the genesis of "Heroes" and "Lost" is that Tim and I are both interested in the same kind of stories. I'm sort of more a comic/fantasy/sci-fi geek than he is, but at the same time both of us spin on this axis of destiny, spiritual questions and "What is our place on the Earth?" KRING: Absolutely. That's why we were friends in real life. ![]() KRING: And with a show like "Heroes," I tried really hard not to have a central mystery attached to it. Even the mystery of how these people got these powersI answered that and people didn't believe me. I kept answering these things in interviews constantly, and I always hear, "Well, it has to be something more than just, 'This is evolution.' That's not how it's done. Someone is supposed to fall into a vat of nuclear waste or gets bitten by a spider. That's the way it's really done." Well, no. This is my story, and my story is that it's an evolutionary step. And we reserve the right to change that along the way, but that's the theory I'm positing to begin with. LINDELOF: I know exactly what you're talking about. Sometimes we want to get off of the freight train, and that's when the backlash began in terms of the audience" KRING: "How dare you jump off of a speeding train and tell a story about something else?" LINDELOF: Right. "Now you've teased me with the meta and I'm not as interested in the micro anymore." Every episode of "Lost" is just one or two days on the island, and so we'd always come back, like, a day after the season finale ended. So you're inheriting all this story that you just did, and there is no way around that. If you skipped forward two years in time on the island, for example, the audience would be so mystified as to, "What did we miss? What happened over the course of that two years? Did they discover the mysteries of the island and we're not privy to them? Why are Kate and Jin a couple?" Must read the rest here. GOOOOO. Oh, and if you are so inclined, join the Lost Freaks group! Music To Get You High: I-Doser
This biz blog called Mind Petals recently posted about a company that claims their music can get you high. Literally. Not on like, LIFE (not "wooo hah, I sure do like this song!") No, high like Lindsay Lohan in the bathroom of Hyde. Coke, Pot, Acid (hey didn't people stop doing that sh*t like, 20 years ago?) and Peyote. There's also sleep, sedative and anti-anxiety, according to this blog.
![]() Bad news if you've had a drug-free life and are looking for a taste, because I think this statement is pretty on target: "I believe that, theoretically, music can stimulate the sensation of being on drugs. However, there must already be a neural net, a preexisting connection somewhere in the brain (perhaps, of a previous drug experience while listening to that exact music), in order for such a firing of neurons to be triggered; hence, creating the drug experience without taking the actual drug." All around, blogs are calling bullsh*t. Regardless, it's still amazing to me that this product, however fake, even exists. And that people are buying it. You should send that link to your friends. Not the quick ones, not the skeptics-- the ones that fill their red solo cups with water at house parties, pretend it's vodka and then spend the rest of the night falling all over guys going "oh my gah im suuuuuhhhhh waaaaaysted."

May 17, 2007Marilyn Manson does not care about V-Tech Shooting
Picked up this story from seriouslyomg:
Entertainment Wise recently interviewed Marilyn Manson and asked him about the Virgina Tech shootings and he said feels it is pointless to waste emotions on the incident. He went on to say, “It all seems very manufactured to me in the way that there's candlelight vigils but I haven't seen anyone crying. Not one single person crying. Someone said to me yesterday 'I'm sure you're full of mixed emotions'. I'm not. I don't really care. I don't know anyone involved in it. If you lose emotion, and you gain it back, you realise that hate and love are very important to distribute properly. So I am not going to waste any kind of emotion on things that aren't related to me" He went on to explain, "It doesn't mean that you have to be insensitive or cold, or have no sort of empathy. It just means that when you do have an emotion, make it extreme." Do you think he has this sort of adverse reaction because in the past he's been "blamed" for similar incidents? And I personally don't think you had to know someone involved to have any sort of emotional reaction. It was horrifying to me because it happened on a normal college campus-- which is supposed to be a safe place. It just one of those universal eye-openers that makes you realize anything could happen if someone stops adhering to that unspoken social contract. And emotions don't have to be extreme. Why can't they just be what they are? Amplifying an emotion in order to "get the distribution right" seems pretty damn manufactured to me. Also, if you think I'm putting a picture of Manson in this post, you're out of your mind. He's a beast. I have substituted with this: ![]()

Stalker Story of the Day: Tyson Ritter & Delta Dawn
From Gatecrasher:
"All-American Rejects front man Tyson Ritter is being harassed by a woman known as 'Delta Dawn.' Dawn is a Delta Airlines employee who harvested personal details like Ritter's phone number from booking information. ![]() "She called me on my birthday. She comes to concerts and brings cookies." Ritter's girlfriend, model Kim Smith, started looking a little uneasy. "How old is she?" she wanted to know. "She's like this bag lady with a big thing of cookies," he assured her. "She calls me and says [lisping], ‘When are you coming back to Connecticut?' I'm a little less honest about my phone number now when I make reservations." --------------- Dear Delta Dawn: Can you please send me Nick Wheeler's digits? Sincerely, Bree TOTALLY KIDDING. Stalking is desperately uncool, kids. Don't do it. Anti-stalking 2007. That's my campaign.

Jimmy Eat World Update! Yeaaaaaahhhh!
From absolutepunk:
![]() "We have a mix date set for May 28th. Yes, there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. We just spent a week in Los Angeles tweaking out a few songs and stalking Tony from Sparta (we know what Starbucks you go to now, homz). We re-cut drums and bass for a song called "Here It Goes" with producer John Fields. We will be working on art and getting all our new stage costumes together soon. How does human-size banana suits sound? People would definitely ask us less questions about emo then." Hahaha. Wait didn't Good Charlotte already do fruit costumes? I'm so excited! And I don't say that in a superficial Laguna Beach/The Hills kind of way-- those girls swear they're excited about everything. i.e. "I'm going to starbucks. I'm so excited!" or "Prom is 5 months away. I'm so excited!" or "Absolut has a new flavored vodka. I'm so excited! Just kidding I'm underage, I don't drink. Wink wink." I am genuinely excited. In honor of my genuine excitement, I'll now go listen to "Authority Song" three times. Sigh. JEW is so timeless.

There are various bits of info floating about on the internets suggesting that HIM album has been postponed to September. The release was previously scheduled to the middle of July.

Today in Creepy, Fanatical Tales: Linkin Park Cyberstalker
I don't consider myself a Linkin Park fan, but as the nature of my job goes, I try and keep up with music news. For the most part, I skim. But today, I came across this story on Wired and it had me totally transfixed. Maybe LP fans are well-aware of this story, but I think it is of interest to non-fans as well.
![]() Here's an excerpt: Talinda Bennington sat down to check her email. It was March 2006, and for Talinda, 29, life was good. She had recently married Chester and they had just had a son together. Chester was working on an album with legendary producer Rick Rubin. She opened a message from an unfamiliar address. "I'm very happy for you and Chester," it read. Then, as if to taunt Talinda, there was a link to a Web site run by Chester's ex-wife, Samantha. Talinda didn't make much of it. She was married to a rock star, so she knew how obnoxious fans could be. They blasted Linkin Park songs outside the couple's house at 3 am. Nailed lyrics to their front door. One time, a woman slammed on her brakes and caused an accident when she saw Chester strolling by — she had to stop and tell him how much she loved him. "There are always going to be encounters that you kind of wish went differently," Chester says. "But the average fan really isn't fanatical." One night soon after, Talinda had just put their son to sleep and crawled into bed when Chester's cell phone rang. This time, she reached over and answered it herself."I'm watching you, " a woman's voice said. Talinda tried to shrug it off. "Whatever," she said. "Whore!" the woman snapped back and hung up. Caller ID had been blocked. Friends began emailing Talinda and referring to messages they had received from her — messages that she had never sent. When they forwarded the emails to her, she saw that they came from a Yahoo account she hadn't used in months. Then Linkin Park's head of security, Bruce Thompson, got an
email from someone purporting to be Talinda. "Hi Bruce," it read, "do
we have an email address for Samantha? Strange emails from (fan?)
sources have been received. They seem to know a lot of information."
Somebody was pretending to be Chester's current wife to get contact
info for his ex. Read the rest here. It's creepy as sh*t, but an incredible read. Isn't that just insane? What I don't understand is why someone would spend SO much time doing such a thing. I mean, clearly those hacking computer skills could be used elsewhere. Then again, I'm a sane person.

Britney's new UPBEAT album.
Allie is Wired has some juice on Brit-Brit's upcoming "comeback" CD:
According to Nate 'Danja' Hills (who worked with Brit this album), Britney Spears' upcoming release will be about feeling good and celebrating womanhood. ![]() "It's fun, it's basic and there's nothing wrong with that. And if you don't dance to it, I really don't know what you're listening to. There was no, 'I need to let it all out'. She said she deals with that in another way. She didn't let none of her personal life into what she was doing... She wanted to stay away from being personal." Well, sh*t. It's not like the songs would reveal things we didn't already know. And I don't know if repeated-rehab, divorce, poppin' babies and dancing nearly naked up in da club would resonate with me, anyhow. Or maybe dancing nearly naked in da club is what she meant by "celebrating womanhood"? Who knows. I just want another "Toxic." THAT was the greatest Britney song EVER.

Heroes Spin-Off News...
"NBC is creating a spin-off of the popular Heroes: a six-week midseason replacement entitled Heroes: Origins. So
when Heroes goes on midseason break next fall, each week will introduce
a new character — one of whom will be chosen by viewers through the Heroes website on NBC.com to become a cast regular the following season. That means 30 episodes of Heroes next season which means the show would be pre-empted no more than 5 times during the course of the season."
I love how this show is so interactive. I can get my Heroes fix in between the episodes by all their online secret stuff, and the graphic novel. Wanna see some previews for tonight's epsisode? Click the pictures below. Source: ONTD

May 13, 2007No Lily, Don't Listen!
Lily Allen wrote in her MySpace blog...
![]() "Subject: fat, ugly and shitter than winehouse that is all i am, im on my own in america again . I used to pride myself on being strong minded and not being some stupid girl obsessed with the way I look . I felt like it didnt matter if I was a bit chubby cause, im not a model, I'm a singer. Im afraid I am not strong and have fallen victim to the evil machine . I write to you in a sea of tears from my hotel bed in Seattle , I have spent the past hour researching gastric bypass surgery, and laser lipo suction." At the time I read this, she had 270 comments-- all supporting her and encouraging her that well, we love her the way she is and she is a GOOD role model. But man, it's gotta be hard. Think of the pressure girls NOT in the spotlight, NOT gracing the pages of magazines feel-- then intensify that. Secondly, I don't think she should be compared to Amy Winehouse, because Amy Winehouse's music satisfies completely different musical cravings. So, Lily, I hope you can get right in the head again and realize that we all love you the way you are-- mouthy, fun, lily-sized and fabulous. Sigh.
