March 31, 2009"New Moon" News: Alex Meraz Added To CastSo a new dude was added to the cast of New Moon (the Twlight sequel) and a lot of people think he's hot. He'll be a member of the wolf pack alongside Taylor Lautner. Judge for yourself and report back to me, stat. Other fun facts to perhaps convince you: He's "an inherent dancer" and knows mixed martial arts. But don't get too excited because he's married and likes to take racy pics with his pregnant wifey. I say: Even though this actor apparently showers, he has nothing on RPattz.

March 27, 2009Bree's Book Corner: Dave Eggers!I bet you think I call this “book corner” to summon images of cozy throw pillows and worn paperbacks and an aura of acceptance. But no. It’s because I literally write this column IN A CORNER. This one, to be exact:
Booky question: Do any of you have a kindle out there? How do you feel about it? I really like the instant gratification of it, but I really like underlining phrases and dog-earing pages in books. I suppose this is like the album versus mp3 format debate. Add me on goodreads ! What are you reading right now? And would anyone like to make me a bookmark? I have a habit of using like, sbux receipts. How terribly uninspiring, right?

March 23, 2009Gossip Girl Recap 2.23.09
First, because I missed out on recapping and discussing last week's, can we take a moment to honor Blair Waldorf's pristine usage of "BTW"? Okay.
Secondly, "What is this--good cop... Bass cop?" I LAUGHED. I ADMIT IT. Thirdly, NATHANIEL! Ok, granted it was the very end of the episode and we know sometimes that turns out to be totally different than what it seems but CHUCK WAS FINGERING THE JACKET and so we know ish is gonna go down. Big 'ol moral question: Should Nate have taken the internship? I think he was put in a very awkward place and given the chance, I think *I* would have gone with the internship. But maybe that's because I don't really like V. Who knows. What would you do? Take the internship, or do the summer traveling with the lovey-poo? (NOTE: Remember what LC chose in season whatever of The Hills? Like, Jason vs. Paris? How did that turn out. Just sayin'.) Lastly, Leslie would like me to point out the ridiculousness that was Nate and V's summer travel plan. Budapest? They're 17! Related Groups:

March 19, 2009Gaf Tape, Poo and Potential Friends: RTOC Tour Observations and Such
Gaf tapes solves most of life's problems. Duct tape's pricier, prettier (neon colors galore) and more pliable cousin is a coveted item on tour because it can be used for SO MANY THINGS! It's a sidekick cover, it's a cord handler, it allows for extreme organization of bus drawers by being the perfect label. It keeps doors open. It's a canvas for your next masterpiece. It keeps plastic lizards in check. The possibilities are endless.
![]() I hope you're not squeamish about the discussion of bowel movements, because as the "no paper / no poop" rules remains firm on all buses, the when/where of such functions is often brought up in conversation. Whether you like it or not, you may know quite a lot about the status of your bus mates digestion. ![]() Rock stars need health insurance. Seriously, someone is always sick or congested or allergy-ish. Check out Rock For Health and see how you can contribute and spread awareness. ![]() I think the biggest issue for me on this tour was making emotional connections. What can be done in 5 days? I'm not terribly outgoing (or even mildly outgoing), but it's in my nature to activate the buddy system as quickly as possible in a foreign situation. This involves a lot of listening, a lot of absorption of the surrounding social situation. Evaluating. Watching body language. I can't say it really resulted in anything this time around, but that never stops me from shifting into that mode, anyway. ![]() Four Year Strong is a phenomenal band because 1. They kinda remind me of New Found Glory 2. They're just, well... genuine. And so is their crew. They're friends. They go way back. Their bus is not bumper cars for egos. No, I can't say omg, we are BFFL now! but I feel like I got a good sense of who they were because they weren't trying to be anything. N'ah mean? In certain situations I feel like so much energy goes toward projecting personas. And that can get exhausting. If we had the opportunity to take the maniacal bus driver out of the equation completely (I couldn't sleep at night. I thought we were going to die), I would even say I had a good experience. The day after we fired the idiot bus driver, got a new one and changed buses, Josh woke up bright-eyed and exclaimed, "What a difference getting a good sleep makes! I don't feel like I want to die today!" Word. Too bad that was my last day of tour.

March 16, 2009I don't know if anyone bought the practice stripper pole.Today we were in Louisville, Kentucky at this venue called the EXPO 5 and its sort of weird and sketchy because it's in this thing that looks like an aviation hangar but hosts this bizarre flea market. I say bizarre because right when I walked in I found myself under a neon sign that said "Buy a practice pole!" You know, as in stripper pole. Makes sense, I suppose, since there are 5 strip joints in a row across the street, but that doesn't make me feel any less creeped out. A lot of the boys bought these bb guns (?) and Vic from Pierce The Veil bought Four Year Strong a sweet dreamcatcher with a wolf on it. That was nice of him. The upside is I met Jenna, who is adorable, and who will undoubtedly have awesome photos from tonight's show. For anyone wondering, the cutest person on the tour isn't Oli Sykes. It's this guy named Chris who's traveling with them (bmth). Freaking adorable! But I'll be embarrassed if he reads this. Denny's was an adventure -- fys and bmth piled into ptv's rv to get there. There were a lot of kids and one girl in particular who was oversharing in the parking lot. Note: When you lost your virginity, even if it WAS just 2 weeks ago, is not an appropriate conversation starter. Our maniacal bus driver tore off 2 AC units and the satellite on his way to pick us up from Denny's. Fool knows he's getting fired, so he's driving even worse tonight. I don't often swear out loud but I yelled JESUS FUCKING CHRIST after we did a series of rumbles over what felt like dead bodies. Annnnd now I'm sort of getting motion sick. Night kids.

March 13, 2009Do you have questions for Bring Me The Horizon?Because I might be able to ask them for you in the next couple days.
Or I might just disregard all y'all and ask just Oli, "So, you agree, you think you're really pretty?"
;)
I am exhausted. But my Aunt fed my Olive Garden and bought me a Betseyville laptop case! She spoils me.
There is snow on the ground outside and when I stepped out onto the carpet and slid like FOOT before I caught my balance. AUGH. KLUTZ.

March 6, 2009EXCLUSIVE: No Doubt Reveals To Buzznet Tour Will Have 'Clockwork Orange' Inspired Theme
This morning I got the opportunity to talk to No Doubt's guitarist Tom Dumont about their upcoming tour, picking Paramore as a tour mate and the direction their new material is headed, and most importantly the fact that the tour will be modeled after A Clockwork Orange, which he revealed exclusively to Buzznet today. I write this calmly but in truth, I barely slept last night, I was so excited.
Fans of the band know that this tour will be jam-packed full of their favorites—No Doubt did a survey on their official site a few months ago to see which tracks people wanted to hear most—but without an album, how will the tour look? Read Tom Dumont's quote about the No Doubt tour vibe...

March 5, 2009Bree's Book Corner: Naps and Cake
First, let me start of by saying that I don't do book reviews. I have favorites, I have my dislikes, I have authors I would go to bat for if I needed to... but I feel the same way about books as I do about music -- it largely depends on what mood you're in and at what particular point in your life this piece of work comes to you. Know what I mean? That said, I'll be recommending a few every week for very simplistic and personal reasons. Take it, leave it, or add me on goodreads.
This week, to go along with my proposed holiday, I'm suggesting two books about naps ![]() 1. Take A Nap, Change Your Life by Sara C. Mendrick because it can arm you with biological facts that support napping. I'm not even finished with this one yet, and I'm already cursing my circadian rhythm every afternoon and waving it in the faces of folks who frown on a 30-minute refresher snooze. ![]() 2. Change Your Life Without Getting Out Of Bed by SARK is a hand-written, colorful pro-napping book that cutely coerces us to reclaim our rights to nap. Filled with suggested nap equipment, companions, tips, quotations and the results of rampant nap deprivation. Book that I love that is not about napping: I Was Told There'd Be Cake by Sloane Crosley. ![]() She is an essayist, she is hilarious, and if you have book a.d.d. these short anecdotes are perfect for you. Also, they totally inspire ME to write, which is a bonus. FACT: I actually chose this book for the title, not knowing anything about it.

March 4, 2009After reviewing some pictures of myself I've decided...
That I like when my hair is darker. Blonde streaks w/ almost black. So, for my next appointment, I'm just gonna take it back to blonde and black. I tried to be a blonde. I tried. It just isn't me.
Other things: Did you know doodling improves your memory? I hope all the Buzznet higher ups read this, because Elrich and I doodle a lot during meetings. I want to buy a hoola hoop. Is that weird? I hear its a good workout, and it seems more fun than some things. ![]() I think I need these to make me cooler at work ![]() And I think maybe I could rock these American Apparel socks - y/n? ![]() Um, or maybe I just want things that are pink/black/white this month. Ha. I'm reading "Take a Nap, Change Your Life" by Sara C. Mendrick. I'm craving coconut sorbet. And I'm going on part of Taste of Chaos starting next week. Sheet! I am such a weenie when it comes to cold weather, I don't know how I will even survive all those non-sunny, non-SoCal places. Will any of you be at the Chicago TOC date?
