Ryan Ross and Jon Walker's New Band: The Young Veins

The half of Panic! at the Disco that re-embraced the exclamation and pedaled backwards a bit as far as progression released "A New Perspective" today. Not to be upstaged (or harrassed via various social networks), the departed 50% of Panic announced their band name, The Young Veins, and put up a song on their MySpace. Get familiar...

All of them were so cute and creative, I'm not lying when I say it was hard to choose! I think I'll be using some of them as banners on my myspace/fb, etc.

Do you guys like these little contests?

Buzznet Names The New Ryan Ross - Jon Walker Project

We've just about come to terms with the Panic at the Disco split, some people hopeful that it means twice as much music as before, and some... well, still blaming Ryan Ross.

But the baby-faced Beatles-lover recently explained the differences in musical ambition, and what he and Jon were working on now that they've left. They don't have a name for this project yet, so we brainstormed some suggestions. Have at 'em!

Nightmare Of You @ Knitting Factory + A Better Trace Cyrus For Y'all

There are a few thing that made me like Nightmare Of You initially. They were support from some other band I was seeing and the lyrics to "MyName Is Trouble" caught my attention ("This is the last time that I'll hold your hand / I want to kiss you on the mouth and tell you I'm your biggest fan"). There's a review in here, somewhere...

Panic at the Disco Nostalgia Post

So yesterday we received the news that Panic at the Disco will continue on without Ryan Ross and Jon Walker. There was a considerable amount of freak out, undertstandably.

Although wer'e all mildly comforted by the fact that they split for the sole purpose of taking different musical directions--one forking towards Fever and the other Pretty. Odd., presumably--fans are still squeamish about the magic forces of Brendon Urie's voice and Ryan Ross' lyrics being absent.

I guess all we can do is wait to see what transpires. Oh, and we can be nostalgic about our precious panic memories of the past. Join us, won't you? Looking back on past Panic...

Rescued By Patrick Stump: A Day On The Set Of "What A Catch, Donnie"

By now many of you have read Richard's recount of our day as extras in the Fall Out Boy music video shoot.

Richard had never been to a music video shoot before, but I have. Maybe I should've told him there are often long, long hours involved. But then he would've said no and would not have gotten to fake-party with Brendon Urie, which was probably his secret dream come true.

ANYWAY. So 40-some FOB fans gathered in all black clothing, as directed, at this port in San Pedro. We basically waited around for a few hours, I got sunburned, I overhead some peculiar fanatical conversations, and Nicole came over every once in awhile to keep me entertained. Andy Hurley was lurking and taking panoramic pics, then came over and chatted with some of us. Read more...
